New Giveaway! Mountains of the Moon Eco-Fashion

Edie Dress- Mountains of the Moon

Holiday Countdown Giveaway #3 is from another LDB favorite. We first discovered Mountains of the Moon on twitter in some very fashionable eco-friendly circles. We instantly fell in love with these feminine designs that were created to look oh, so chic…and by the way, they’re produced using the most earth-friendly methods and material. But these are no potato sacks.
When we first interviewed Chicago-based MOTM designer Melissa Baswell, we learned that she had been investigating ways to create earth-friendly pieces even as a little girl. Far before it was fashionable! Now, her experience is paying off in gorgeous I-must-have-that-for-my-next-holiday-party design.
So we [...]

Vert Couture Eco-Fashion as Fashion Focus Finale

I remember when being “green” accompanied the chime “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. Over the past few years it has become much more. The building industry brought forth LEED certification, cars are going hybrid, and the term “organic” has gone from food to fashion.
When eco-fashion was first introduced, it caused some skepticism that it may tout the description of “granola” versus “grandeur”. However, throughout the years and through the efforts of some passionate designers, the skepticism can now be happily disregarded. And Sunday’s Vert Couture “Springtime in Chicago” runway show was a fantastic reminder that green [...]

Final Nights of Fashion at the Portland Shipyards!

Jesica Milton- Portland Fashion Week 2009

We had a great time at Portland Fashion Week this year! Special thanks to Aundrea Harrell of Ephraim Studios Photography for our fabulous pictures, Bethany Waggoner for being so welcoming and The Nelson-Costley Group at RBC Wealth Management for sponsoring our stay in the Pacific Northwest.
So who were our favorites? Write down these names to know!
Jesica Milton gave us a few more casual looks than we’ve seen before, but with feminine details like asymmetrical tops, straps, ruffles and even…lace.
Wyatt Orr rocked it with sculpted coats and careful stitching. Not knowing much about this line before seeing it, I was really [...]

Portland Fashion Week: The Preview

I wrote last week about all the reasons why I love this show! It celebrates the indie designer like no other fashion week in this world. And it is becoming the destination for eco-fashion designers and buyers. Only 7 days left ’til we land in Portland! Here are a few of the designers whose collections we are most looking forward to:
Lizzie Parker- A very popular Seattle designer, Lizzie’s looks have also been featured in major fashion pubs including Lucky, WWD and InStyle. I’m intrigued by her past spring collections. Very bright, feminine, sexy, yet comfortable.
Mountains of the Moon- This is [...]

Mountains of the Moon: Fabulous Eco-Fashion Find!

We’ve highlighted a few quality eco-finds since LDB started. We love hearing how designers are concerned with using techniques, fabrics or materials that are socially conscious and working to protect our planet. But I have to be honest. I’ve said it before that eco-friendly doesn’t always equal eco-fashion. And I can NEVER in good faith, recommend a product that doesn’t reflect great design.
So, I’m thrilled to introduce you to a new designer who has made a commitment to using environmentally friendly methods since she was a little girl…long before it was trendy. And, what’s better…her designs are so fabulous and [...]
