Don’t you love handbags?! Especially labels that are fun, different and attract attention. It’s a small obsession with me. So I had to share this find with you. I first found Amy Phelps, the designer behind nJoy Designs on twitter and right away I wanted to know more. I loved the color and the way she combined seemingly different patterns into one complete look. I also wanted to learn more about the materials she used. I loved that each bag looks…easy to clean! Imagine that. Great if you have kids. Here’s what Amy had to tell us.
LDB: I was so [...]

This designer fits our title so well as the creator of quite literally…little designer books. I was so intrigued when I found her on twitter that I had to pass along her story to you. Michelle created Spoonful of Chocolate to help contribute financially to her family. Her story is heartbreaking, but her designs are fabulous and so unique. It seems that Michelle has stumbled on a new career in design. Here’s a little more about Michelle:

I recently came across a beautiful new line of handmade resin jewelry on etsy by an Australian company called Trove Designs. I was drawn to these pieces for their classic elegance with a hint of texture and uniqueness that isn’t communicated in all resin jewelry. Brooke McAlary is the design mind behind this line. From the Blue Mountains outside of Sydney, Australia, Brooke spoke with LDB [...]

I was recently introduced to Ericka’s handbags through a friend and I was captivated by her clean lines, unique styles and quality craftsmanship. I was compelled to meet her…and although she is in NY and I’m in LA, we made time to get to know one another on the phone. Currently, Ericka is studying Fashion Theory at NYU, completely immersed in New York’s world of fashion and design. Her career is just emerging, but she has big ideas for the future of her business.
Here is some of what she had to say:
What would you say was your inspiration to become [...]

I’ve had the opportunity to meet many inspiring designers so far and I can tell when I’m speaking to an artist at heart. Someone who can’t help but design anything and everything they get their hands on. These designers would bleed red thread if they could. Their entire world including their home and their clothing is all about their own individual creations. This is exactly my feeling when I met Amy, designer of oblinaknit.
When I first met Amy on twitter (@oblinaknit), I made my way to her etsy site. I was stunned by the shear number of items she had [...]

I admit, I’m crazy for Twitter, facebook, evite and all the techie stuff. But when was the last time a friend sent a card in the mail? I think every year this is on the top of my resolutions list: “Send more cards to friends.” A few weeks ago I was introduced to Toodles Noodles. The name alone made me want to know more. And when I saw these fun, whimsical designs on paper for great prices, I was in love! Created by two sisters (Sharon from Seattle, WA & Liora of New Zealand) Toodles Noodles creates whimsical illustrations of [...]
