Jesica Milton- Portland Fashion Week 2009
We had a great time at Portland Fashion Week this year! Special thanks to Aundrea Harrell of Ephraim Studios Photography for our fabulous pictures, Bethany Waggoner for being so welcoming and The Nelson-Costley Group at RBC Wealth Management for sponsoring our stay in the Pacific Northwest.
So who were our favorites? Write down these names to know!
Jesica Milton gave us a few more casual looks than we’ve seen before, but with feminine details like asymmetrical tops, straps, ruffles and even…lace.
Wyatt Orr rocked it with sculpted coats and careful stitching. Not knowing much about this line before seeing it, I was really blown away! Men or women, if you need a coat this winter, you won’t go wrong with a WyattOrr!
Lizzie Parker delivered a holiday collection (in lieu of a Spring 2010 collection) perfect for any holiday party, full of bold colors, satin detailing and ruffles! Although Lizzie moved away from her wholesale business in 2008, she now has a successful storefront in Seattle where she produces each and every piece she sells! The best part…get a custom outfit from this talented designer at $300 or less!! I can’t wait for an L.A. store…Lizzie, are you reading this?!
Mountains of the Moon by Melissa Baswell definitely did not disappoint. We have interviewed this Chicago designer before and we love the way she brings us the most fashion forward eco-designs. No burlap bags, or scratchy linen garments here! In fact, the Spring 2010 collection stuck to Melissa’s signature feminine flair. I’m such a fan!
Anna Cohen’s Imperial Collection was the finale of the week and rightfully so. Anna is very well respected in Portland’s fashion community. Her show opened with a captivating and very important story of the birth of these designs. From “the Oregon Trail, to the ranch, to the runway”…she has utilized the beautiful Oregon landscape to create 100% organic pieces from the sheep of a local family-owned farm. Talk about going back to the basics! Her Imperial Collection might be small town, but these designs were anything but. Loved the story…and the style!
Stay tuned for designer interviews with Jesica Milton, Wyatt Orr, Lizzie Parker, Melissa Baswell and Anna Cohen. We have much more coming about their spring design inspiration, as well as backstage stories from PFW, new images, and the latest news.
More coming soon…
