Vibe Designs Giveaway!

vibecandyland

It’s Monday and time for our next weekly giveaway. This week’s giveaway is sponsored by Vibe Designs. Vibe designer Rachael Conn is inspired by paper, fabric and color, color, COLOR! I always enjoy hearing how designers got started because their stories are often so different.
Rachael started Vibe Designs while recuperating from a knee operation and was unable to walk for 12 weeks. Well, what is a girl to do? She couldn’t walk, but she could get crafty! So she bought a small jewelry-making kit and combined her love of paper with her love of jewelry to create beautiful resin pieces.

Introducing…Frances Harder and FBI

Frances Harder

LDB had the great honor of sitting down with Frances Harder, founder of Fashion Business Inc. I was excited to learn how FBI and LDB could work together to offer resources and support to new designers. The FBI office is located in the California Market Center (California Mart). If you’re not familiar with this building, it is where fashion lives in Los Angeles. When I walk into the Mart, I have died and gone to fashion heaven where the fashion gods bless me with their best design inspirations! It is my favorite place in all the world!
When I found the [...]

HGTV is launching it’s new series soon, Armchair Design, and they are currently looking for thirteen lucky people to participate in this new reality challenge. You could finally have the chance to put your design skills and sensibilities to the test to come up with a great interior look for a real client.
But here’s the catch (and it just may eliminate many of you)…no design experience is required. In fact, if you have formal design training or are currently working as a designer in the business of interiors, you will not be chosen to participate. This is strictly for the [...]

Acclaimed Photographer Moving into Fashion

Matt Haines Photography

I was recently introduced to Matt Haines, a California photographer, by a friend of mine. Because Matt came to me so highly recommended, I told him I would offer to tell LDB readers about his new packages in fashion photography. Currently working in Ventura County where he was voted “Best Photographer”in the local “Best of” Readers’ Poll, Matt has also expanded his impressive portfolio to include fashion photography. If you are in L.A. County and are a designer looking for professional images to best display your designs, consider calling Matt Haines.

Gimme Some Candy!…Cotton Candy

cottoncandy3

I am loving twitter! Design inspiration and amazing designers…galore! Many of whom I probably would never know about. Such is the case with this fun, fabulous line of kids’ clothing. Lauren was a stay-at-home mom with a need for a tutu for her daughter’s birthday party. And, from there….Cotton Candy Shop was born.
What I love about stories like Lauren’s is that it shows how great design can be inspired by anything at any time if we are up for the challenge. And she certainly was. I recently had the opportunity to interview Lauren about her journey as a designer. Here [...]

Our Story

This blog is a labor of love for me. I am a designer, myself. But I know that a great idea and a beautiful design doesn’t necessarily mean anything if the right person doesn’t see it. In fact, I would spend so much time spilling over my creations in my own living room that I would forget all about a marketing plan. For the last several years I’ve met some amazingly creative women. They have beautiful designs, but don’t have the time or money to reach the stores that would certainly love their ideas. In my book, they are designers. [...]
