The local neighborhood boasting of meat markets, loading docks and a smattering of five star restaurants and lounges had something else to boast about last Friday. For the first time in the Chicagoland area, 26,000 square feet of West Loop warehouse space brought forth both contemporary and vintage fashions for the shopper’s perusal and purchase. Modern Vintage Chicago was kicked off with a runway show and preview party on Friday, October 16th, and lasted through the weekend. Recap: Day 2 of Portland Fashion Week

So far we’ve had two great nights in Portland. Last night featured designs from Suzabelle, Janeane Marie, Sweet Skins, gowns by Angelia Sasmita even a few of the students from The Art Institute of Portland showed off their stuff.
We especially loved this cuffed trouser look from student Emily Kathryn Carol. The suspenders and gloves were a risk…which we appreciated!

Well, we just landed and I’m so excited for the show tonight. We’re blasting music from the hotel room, frantically writing and getting pumped for some new up-and-comers. Tonight’s theme is “Moving Fashion”. These designers specialize in activewear that doesn’t sacrifice style. The objective: look amazing and feel comfortable.

I wrote last week about all the reasons why I love this show! It celebrates the indie designer like no other fashion week in this world. And it is becoming the destination for eco-fashion designers and buyers. Only 7 days left ’til we land in Portland! Here are a few of the designers whose collections we are most looking forward to:
