Designer to Watch: Jesica Milton

jmfanpleatdress

We love twitter! I’ve said this before, but we’ve really meet some amazing people in out twitter network. This award-winning emerging designer is no exception to the talent that we’ve found out there. Jesica Milton comes to us from her studio in Seattle with a fall collection that recently won her Seattle Magazine’s prestigious award for Best Emerging Designer. (Look for her spread in the upcoming September edition!) Of course, when I caught up with Jesica, I had to get the scoop. Here’s what she had to say to us:
LDB: I was struck by the cohesiveness of your collection. Tell [...]

Jibri is Redefining Plus-size Fashion

jibripink

If you follow plus-size fashion at all, then Jibri is a name to know. Even though I may not wear plus sizes, I found myself browsing their collection and asking, “Are you sure you don’t make this in a size 4?” I immediately called Jasmine, the owner and designer of Jibri to learn more about her brand. I learned some very interesting tidbits about the plus-size market, what makes Jibri different from the brands we already know and why this is a label destined for big things!
Jasmine Elder is an Atlanta-based designer whose experience in design has taken her from [...]

Amazing Giveaway from Anoname Jeans!

Kate Beckinsale wearing Anoname

What is it about denim anyway? Everyone wears it, you can’t live without it and yet color and styles certainly don’t vary as much as other pieces in your closet might. And because we haven’t talked much about denim on LDB yet, I went searching for the perfect brand to give us the full designer scoop.
Recently seen on Kate Beckinsale, Anoname is also a favorite of  Carrie Underwood, Lauren Conrad, Brooke Shields, Vanessa Minnillo, Nancy O’Dell and Natalie Morales. We recently caught up with Ron Poisson, the designer behind Anoname jeans. He gave us some insight into him, his brand [...]

Designer Interview: Ximena Valero

ximena4

Last night, I drove into L.A. to meet with fashion designer Ximena Valero. We first introduced you to this Mexico City-native a few weeks ago at FBI in the California Market Center. In our first review, I promised you more in a one-on-one interview. So between managing her recent show schedule, creating marketing materials and keeping up on orders, we tracked her down to talk with us.  This time, I met Ximena in her own environment, her design studio. Her studio is exactly as I pictured it. Her assistant, her dog and four mannequins greeted me at the door and [...]

Readers’ Choice for Great American Designer

ralph-lauren

So you may have seen my question this week on twitter and facebook: Who is your favorite Great American Designer? The results were an overwhelming vote for…you guessed it! Ralph Lauren. Timeless, classic, and all-American!
When I think of RL, I think of those commercials of him on the boat wearing red, white and blue all the way. His white linen pants are without a wrinkle and his hair is handsomely graying and blowing in the wind. I think if the “American Dream” were a commercial, this would be it. Cut to the end…and this time the American flag unfolds to [...]

An L.A. Night of Fashion

Ximena Valero

Ximena Valero put on an amazing show last night at Fashion Business Inc. in the California Market Center! Her looks seemed inspired by the city of L.A. with bold colors, light fabrics and flowing “care-free” designs. Stacy Elder Herb (Little Designer Book’s newest contributor) joined me for a night of mingling with interesting designers, photographers, celebrity stylists, press, educators, and financiers. We had a great time with Anyes Galleani, Ken Wengrod, designer Andru Wallace and FBI’s Frances Harder.
Here are some of our favorite looks from the show…we were so close, so sorry if you’re looking up the models’ dresses. Professional [...]

Introducing…Chelsea Monroe

chelseamonroe1

Thanks Boutiquing for the heads up on Chelsea Monroe, a brand new designer out of Orange County, CA. These are some of the looks in her new collection that were revealed yesterday at her debut fashion show and charity event benefiting Laura’s house, a facility to support the victims of domestic violence. Chelsea’s style is feminine with a dose of funk. Enjoy these picts and we’ll all look forward to bringing you more from Chelsea Monroe Couture.
