SarahBear’s Cards & Creations

sbtins1

Recently I met with, Sarah Barrett, a designer of cards and photo albums in Los Angeles. When I first heard she specialized in handmade cards, I wondered if Sarah’s designs were really that unique. Let’s face it, handmade cards are beautiful and fun to receive, but they are a dime a dozen these days. That is…until I saw her complete collection. Sarah doesn’t just create handmade cards, she designs photo accessories that you’ve never seen before.
My absolute favorite item is her photo tins. At only 4″ x 6″ the are small enough to fit in a small handbag and oh [...]

I can’t believe I just learned about this online boutique! ARE YOU KIDDING? Indie Designs for less than retail? Well, it’s true. I recently learned about badjoan.com from Seattle designer Lizzie Parker who sells her overstock and last season items on the popular website at huge discounts. I was not only thrilled to know that I could buy Lizzie Parker online at a discount…but was also excited to learn about new indie names.  So we recently caught up with Owner and Founder of BadJoan.com, Brooke Wilen for the full scoop.

Jenny Han- Bad Joan Price $60!!

Zebra Collection: A New Brand in Luxury

zchandbagzebra

This new “collection” really isn’t a collection at all…Zebra Collection is a new luxury resort brand. My first thought when I saw these new designs was, “classic zebra print?…they must be on to something!” I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Bruce Gregg, the designer and creator of this new animal print-inspired luxury label. During our conversation, I learned that Bruce spent twenty years in photography but eventually found his real passion…fashion design. And, I have to give it to him…he has a vision!
The distinction between Zebra Collection and other fall collections is that this is an entire [...]

Couture in the kitchen?

kitchencouture1

That’s no Stepford Wife. That’s Kitchen Couture! All I have to say is…why didn’t I think of this! Of course, I would have to spend time in the kitchen for that to happen. (my poor husband)
But who really knew an apron could look oh so couture! Michele Fox and her mother Dalyne Easley, are the design minds behind this fabulous line. And I’m so excited to bring their new collection to you for the first time.
Not only does Kitchen Couture include several adorable designs, colors and fabrics to choose from, they have also discovered a new use for all of [...]

Affordable Leather Handbags by Zhen-U.N. Leathers

Bolero in Mustard- ON SALE $158.00

Leather handbags are a huge weakness of mine! I smell the soft skin from across the room and I can’t help myself. If I touch it…it’s usually over! Fortunately (or unfortunately) my budget won’t allow me to get too out of control. I can’t afford a closet full of genuine leather handbags.
But I recently found a label that might have changed my mind. Zhen-U.N. Leathers is a small etsy shop with some gorgeous handbag finds! For about two years, Jennifer Yuan has been  designing and developing new looks for her line and because she lives and works in Thailand, she [...]

Lizzie Parker is a Seattle Favorite

lizzieparker11

by Andrea Pohlot
We sincerely enjoyed seeing Lizzie Parker’s new collection recently at Portland Fashion Week. Her designs are high-class and exceptionally made…not to mention, she is super sweet and so fun to talk to. Unlike the other designers that week, Lizzie revealed her “Holiday 2009″ collection instead of Spring ‘10. We were curious why…so we asked her.
We learned that although Lizzie’s designs used to be available for wholesale, she made a calculated business decision that changed her focus. Upon recently opening her own store in downtown Seattle, she moved her studio to the back of the store and focuses her designs on serving the Seattle clientele. [...]

Fashion Focus Chicago Kicks Off with Macy’s Runway Show

Chicago has been faced with a profound conundrum. The Marshall Field flagship store on State Street was officially taken over in September 2006, and is now known as Macy’s on State Street. Chicago is a stubborn city, and does not take to change well. As a Chicagoan myself, I admittedly still call the flagship Marshall Field’s, just as I replace U.S. Cellular Field with Comiskey Park, and most recently Willis Tower with its rightful namesake: Sears Tower.
However as stubborn as Chicagoans may be, fault was incredibly difficult to find during the Macy’s runway show to [...]

Project ETHOS Features New Designers in West Hollywood

Li Cari by Jazmin Whitley

by Andrea Pohlot
Last weekend, I met my favorite Hollywood producer friend and gorgeous fashionista, Amy Cubillas, and photographer Matt Haines, for a night at the House of Blues in West Hollywood to get a glimpse of new talent in fashion, music and art. Project ETHOS celebrates new and emerging talent…a perfect night out for LDB! We saw some names we already knew like Li Cari by Jazmin Whitley, Cowgirl Heaven…and found some new favorites like Goci (amazing!).
Before the show, we had the chance to sit down with Li Cari designer Jazmin Whiley (also the subject of the MTV reality show, [...]

Met Retro at the Modern Vintage Chicago

chicagomodvin3

by Rachel Yeomans
The local neighborhood boasting of meat markets, loading docks and a smattering of five star restaurants and lounges had something else to boast about last Friday. For the first time in the Chicagoland area, 26,000 square feet of West Loop warehouse space brought forth both contemporary and vintage fashions for the shopper’s perusal and purchase. Modern Vintage Chicago was kicked off with a runway show and preview party on Friday, October 16th, and lasted through the weekend. Proceeds from the pre-party benefited the Chicago Fashion Foundation (CFF), which provides academic scholarships to Chicago-area college students majoring in fashion-related [...]
